MANHATTAN PARISIENNE

 Barney is the Musical Director and Orchestrator on Alain Boublil's new piece, 'Manhattan Parisienne.'

The work is part of The Other Palace's 'Work in Progress' series.

 

 

Bruce Guthrie (Rent) will direct Noa Bodner (A Tale of Two Cities, Royal & Derngate), Richard Emerson (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Wilton's Music Hall), Douglas Hansell (Titanic, Charing Cross), James Lailey (Measure for Measure, Shakespeare's Globe), Orlando Seale (The Lightning Play, Almeida), Gabriel Vick (Promises, Promises, Southwark Playhouse) and Marie Zamora (Les Miserables, Paris).

 

Boublil's new work follows two struggling artists – a French singer and actress and a Manhattan musician – as they embark on a journey through New York. Excerpts from songs by Jacques Brel, George and Ira Gershwin and Michel Legrand are included in the piece.

 

Manhattan Parisienne premiered at 59E59 Theaters in New York. Zamora, reprises the role of Eve in the London premiere. The production has musical direction and orchestration by Barney Ashworth, choreography by Cameron Carver and casting by Will Burton.

 

Lyricist Boublil's work includes shows such as Les Miserables, Miss Saigon and Martin Guerre.

 

Manhattan Parisienne runs between 10 October and 21 October at various times.
