Grease is the word!

The No.1 Greatest Musical, GREASE, is hitting the road again and coming to a theatre near you! DANNY BAYNE (winner of ITV’s Grease Is The Word, Hairspray) returns as Danny with CARINA GILLESPIE (Grease, Buddy) as Sandy and until 6th August Ice Champion ROBIN COUSINS stars as Teen Angel.

So now it’s time to dust off your leather jackets, pull on your bobby-socks and take a trip to a simpler time as ‘bad boy’ Danny and ‘the girl next door’ Sandy fall in love all over again.

It’s the original High-School musical, featuring all the unforgettable songs from the hit movie including You’re The One That I Want, Grease Is The Word, Summer Nights, Hopelessly Devoted To You, Sandy, Greased Lightnin’ and many more.

So throw your mittens around your kittens and hand-jive the night away with the show that’ll make you want to stand up and shout, ‘A-wop-bop-a-loo-bop A-wop-bam-boom!’

SPIRAL – China

Barney will be Associate Musical Director to Mike Dixon on ‘SPIRAL‘ a new musical being created this Summer in China between June-August.

Directed by Emmy Award winner Gale EdwardsJesus Christ Superstar, Whistle Down The Wind’

With a cast list boasting over 45 members including 20 specialist Acrobats, pyrotechnics, lasers and underwater sequences the production promises to be a huge Spectacular.

Naked Boys Singing Auditions

Barney will be playing for the auditions of the upcoming return of Naked Boys Singing to the New Players Theatre in London’s West End.

Barney is Musical Director for a workshop of Dougal Irvine’s new Musical ‘In Touch’ being held by Perfect Pitch and Dougal Irvine at The Arts Educational Schools London from the 14th-18th February 2011.

Dougal is keen to explore reworking some songs to be acapella vocal arrangements, to this end cast members must be confident with challenging harmonies and independent vocal lines.

Live From the BBC…

Barney will be assisting Musical Director Mike Dixon on Radio 2′s Iconic Friday Night is Music Night on Friday 3rd December.

Mike Dixon has become one of the most experienced and respected musical forces in London’s West End and on British television and he shall be conducting the BBC Concert Orchestra in this A Tribute to The Soaps edition of the show.

As Coronation Street prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary, Radio 2 salutes the soaps with this special Friday Night is Music Night concert. Mike Dixon conducts the BBC Concert Orchestra as Ken Bruce presents some musical memories of Peyton Place, Dr Kildare, the Appleyards and Mrs Dale’s Diary.

Special guests include Tony Hatch, Wendi Peters, Richard Shelton and the cast of the new Coronation Street musical Rogues, Angels, Heroes and Fools.

Drat, The Cat!

Director Ian McFarlane (Betwixt, Zombie Prom) is currently reworking and workshopping the Musical ‘Drat, The Cat!’ with a book and lyrics by Ira Levin and music by Milton Schafer. Barney is providing the Musical Direction and Grace Harrington the Choreography.

HONK!

Barney was called in at the last minute to Musically Direct a performance of HONK! Jr. in Hampstead, London on Saturday!

With only a day to learn the show it was a stressful but very rewarding and enjoyable evening.

The production was performed superbly by the students from Devonshire House School.
