Dougal is keen to explore reworking some songs to be acapella vocal arrangements, to this end cast members must be confident with challenging harmonies and independent vocal lines.

Studio RecordingBest known as runner-up in the BBC’s How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?, West End star Helena Blackman releases her debut solo album The Sound of Rodgers & Hammerstein, celebrating her ongoing association with this legendary musical theatre writing duo. She is joined in two exclusive duets by the number one classical charting singer Jonathan Ansell and her fellow West End star Daniel Boys.
Having captured the nation’s attention and the unfailing support of Andrew Lloyd Webber on How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?, Helena subsequently headlined the acclaimed UK tour of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific, and starred in the West End première of Stephen Sondheim’s Saturday Night. Her many other theatre credits include Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz and the title role in Gypsy.
Helena Blackman: The Sound of Rodgers & Hammerstein is produced by Neil Eckersley & Paul Spicer, musically produced and supervised by Mike Dixon, with musical direction by David Randall and orchestrations by Michael Bruce. Recorded at Angel Studios in January 2010, the recording is released by Speckulation Entertainment.

Live From the BBC…
Barney will be assisting Musical Director Mike Dixon on Radio 2′s Iconic Friday Night is Music Night on Friday 3rd December.
Mike Dixon has become one of the most experienced and respected musical forces in London’s West End and on British television and he shall be conducting the BBC Concert Orchestra in this A Tribute to The Soaps edition of the show.
As Coronation Street prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary, Radio 2 salutes the soaps with this special Friday Night is Music Night concert. Mike Dixon conducts the BBC Concert Orchestra as Ken Bruce presents some musical memories of Peyton Place, Dr Kildare, the Appleyards and Mrs Dale’s Diary.
Special guests include Tony Hatch, Wendi Peters, Richard Shelton and the cast of the new Coronation Street musical Rogues, Angels, Heroes and Fools.
